This is the long bed utility vehicle: an 1800 x 1150 mm hydraulic tipping bed rated to 500 kg, on a 2430 mm wheelbase and a 3.8 m chassis.

About the Utility Vehicle Long Bed

Same running gear and same 500 kg rating as the short bed, with 800 mm more bed. At 1800 mm it takes fence posts, timber, ladders and pallets that simply overhang the shorter one, which is the entire reason to choose it.

The cost is 740 mm of overall length and 380 mm of wheelbase, on the same 4.5 m turning radius. On an open site that is nothing; through a stable yard it is the difference between one manoeuvre and three.

Where the long bed earns its keep

  • Fencing, forestry and estate work carrying long materials
  • Grounds teams moving ladders, poles and staging as well as loose loads
  • Sites where the alternative is a second trip or a trailer
  • Anywhere the load is bulky rather than merely heavy

What it will not do

  • It carries the same 500 kg as the short bed. The extra is length, not capacity, so a dense load gains nothing from choosing this one.
  • 3.8 m long on a 4.5 m turning radius. Measure the yard before ordering.
  • Two wheel drive at 20% climbing, like the short bed. Rough or steep ground with a load on is the UTV line.
  • The charger is 20A here against 25A on the short bed, so a full charge takes longer.

Does the longer bed carry more?
No. Both are rated to 500 kg. The long bed carries bulkier loads, not heavier ones, so choose by the shape of what you move.
Will it fit through a standard gateway?
It is 1290 mm wide, so width is rarely the problem. Length is: 3.8 m with a 4.5 m turning radius needs more room to come about than most people expect.
