Do you pay a deposit to hire a golf buggy
By James Brown · Updated 1 September 2026 · 5 minute read

Not with us. We take no deposit of any kind: no part payment to hold your dates, and no refundable amount held against damage. You accept the quote, we confirm the booking at no charge, and payment is due in full before the vehicles are delivered. Some hire companies do ask for a deposit up front, so it is worth checking what any quote you are comparing actually requires.
Key takeaways
- We take no deposit. Not to hold dates, and not against damage.
- Your booking is confirmed at no charge, before any money is due.
- Payment is due in full before the vehicles are delivered.
- Business customers can often pay against an invoice after the hire.
- Other hire companies may ask for one, so compare what a quote actually requires.
The short answer, and what it means for your budget
There is no deposit on a hire with us. Nothing is payable to get a quote, nothing is payable to request a booking, and nothing is payable when we confirm it. The first and only payment is the total on your quote, due before the vehicles arrive.
For anyone planning an event that matters practically. You are not committing money months ahead to hold a date, and you are not waiting on a refund afterwards. The figure on the quote is the figure, and it moves once: from unpaid to paid.
How our bookings actually work
You accept the quotation, which requests the booking rather than completing it. We then check the vehicles and the transport are genuinely available for your dates, and we confirm. Nothing is charged to request a booking, and nothing is payable unless we confirm it.
That order is deliberate. You are never asked to pay for an event we have not yet agreed we can supply, which is the sequence that leaves people out of pocket and apologised to in the same week.
Once confirmed, payment is due before the vehicles are delivered. You can pay from your account whenever suits, and the amount is the one on your quote, itemised, with delivery and VAT shown separately.
What other companies ask for, and what to check
A deposit is normal in plenty of hire businesses, and it usually does one of two jobs: it holds a date against other enquiries, or it sits as security against damage and is returned afterwards. Neither is unreasonable, and if you are comparing quotes it is worth knowing which one you are being asked for.
The questions worth asking any supplier are the same three: how much is payable before the hire, is it refundable, and what has to happen for it to come back. A quote that answers those in writing is one you can budget against, whatever the answers are.

Damage, and why we hold nothing against it
We do not hold a security deposit either. Instead we record the condition of the buggies at delivery and again at collection, with photographs, so any conversation about damage rests on evidence rather than memory.
If something genuinely is damaged, it is invoiced after the hire, itemised, with the condition records sent to you before anything is raised. Normal event use is expected and is not damage. The practical difference is that you are never out of pocket while somebody decides.
Paying by card or against an invoice
Private customers usually pay by card, which is quick and gives a clear record. Business customers frequently prefer to pay against an invoice, often with a purchase order number, so it fits their own accounts process.
Either works. If you need an invoice, a specific payment method, or particular details on the paperwork for your finance team, tell us when you book and we will set it up rather than making you rework it later.
Common questions
- How much is the deposit
- There is not one. We take no deposit on any hire, so there is nothing to pay until your booking is confirmed, and then it is the full figure already shown on your quote.
- How do you hold my dates without a deposit
- We confirm the booking against the actual vehicles and transport for your dates, and that confirmation is the commitment. Until we send it we do not claim to be holding anything, which is why nothing is payable before it.
- Do you take a security deposit against damage
- No. We photograph the condition at delivery and again at collection. Anything genuinely damaged is invoiced afterwards with those records attached, so you see the evidence before any charge is raised.
- Can we pay by invoice instead
- Business customers usually can, often against a purchase order. Tell us at quote stage that you need to pay by invoice and we will set the booking up that way, with the invoice raised after the hire.
- Will I be charged for wear and tear
- No. Normal event use is expected and is not damage. It exists for genuine damage only, and we send you the delivery and collection photographs before raising anything.
