Golf buggy hire at IWM Duxford

Duxford is an aviation museum on a working Battle of Britain airfield, with several very large hangars spread along a flight line and a live runway. Ordinary days ask visitors to walk that line; airshow days spread the site across a footprint measured in miles.

About IWM Duxford

The site keeps its wartime hangars alongside purpose-built halls including the American Air Museum, holds one of the largest aircraft collections in Europe, and remains an operational airfield flying historic types at airshows through the season. It also runs as a conference and events venue.

On an ordinary day the problem is simple distance: hangars strung along a flight line, with the far end a serious walk from the entrance. On an airshow day the scale changes entirely, with a crowd line, trade stands, field parking, display crew, marshals and medical teams all across the airfield.

The workshop and collection side generates its own movement, with parts and equipment travelling between halls and stores through the year rather than only on event days.

Access and getting around

Aprons, taxiways and hardstanding carry a buggy dependably in most weather, which is unusual among the sites we serve and takes most of the seasonal risk out of a booking. Grass areas and field parking follow the season as normal.

Airside movement is entirely the operator's decision under aviation safety rules, and those rules come before everything else. We supply to the areas that have been agreed and work within whatever briefing is required.

Duxford is about 100 miles by road from our Bracknell depot, round the M25 and up the M11. That distance is priced as its own line on the quote.

Can a buggy be used airside at an operational airfield

Only where the operator permits it, under their movement and safety rules, and with whatever briefing they require. An active airfield controls everything on the manoeuvring area absolutely.

Do you supply buggies for airshows

Yes, and an airshow is one of the clearer cases for a fleet rather than one vehicle. The crowd line, display area, trade stands and field parking spread across a former airfield, and marshals, crew and medical teams need to reach any part of it quickly through a long day.
