About Bowood House and Gardens

Bowood is a listed Georgian house with Brown's landscaped grounds around it: a long serpentine lake, lawns sloping from the house, an arboretum and a separate woodland garden set some distance away. The separation between those parts is what creates the on-foot distances for an event.

For a wedding or a private function using the house and grounds, carrying guests between the terraces, the lake and the parking rather than leaving them to walk the full spread is the practical reason a buggy is arranged.

Access and getting around

Surfaces are gravel drives, terraced lawns and parkland paths on gently sloping ground down toward the lake, with the long approaches typical of a Brown landscape, all comfortable for an electric buggy.

Bowood is privately owned and listed, with a registered park, so vehicle access is agreed with the estate's team and we work to their requirements.
