Golf buggy hire around Dorney

Dorney lies between Windsor and Maidenhead on the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames. Dorney Lake, owned by Eton College, was dug here as a purpose-built rowing course: 2,200 metres of still water with a return lane, set in a 450-acre park of new woodland and meadow. It hosted the rowing and canoe sprint at the 2012 Olympics. Dorney Court, a Tudor manor, and its church stand in the village.

A rowing course is the most linear site we work on. Crews, coaches, boats, officials and umpires all need to move along more than two kilometres of bank, and the finish, the start and the boating area are at opposite ends of it. Spectators walk the same length. During a regatta that movement is constant and against a timetable, which is why courses of this type run buggies as standard equipment.

The perimeter tracks and hardstanding around the boating area are made and level, which is ideal going, and the park is level throughout by construction. The bank edges and the newer meadow are softer. Dorney is one of the closer sites we serve, a short run east from the depot, so delivery for a regatta weekend is straightforward.

Delivery to Dorney

We deliver to Dorney from our Bracknell depot, about 20 miles by road. Delivery is priced on that distance and shown as its own line on your quote, separate from the hire, so you can see exactly what each part costs.

We bring the buggies on a trailer, set them up at the venue, show your team how they work, and collect them at the end of the hire. Nobody needs to tow anything or collect anything themselves.

Which buggies suit Dorney venues

  • 4 seater

A 4 seater golf buggy carries a driver and three passengers, usually in two rows. It is a popular choice for weddings, small group transport and general venue use.

  • 6 seater

A 6 seater golf buggy carries a driver and five passengers. It is the usual choice once you are moving groups rather than individuals, and it is the smallest size that works properly as a shuttle.

  • 8 seater

An 8 seater golf buggy, sometimes called a people mover, carries a driver and seven passengers. It is the largest option we hire and is built for moving guests in numbers on a set route, rather than for general runabout use.

What buggies get used for around Dorney

  • Rowing and paddlesport regattas moving crews, officials and umpires along the bank.
  • Boat and equipment movement between the boating area and the start.
  • Spectator and hospitality transport along a course over two kilometres long.
  • Parkland events and filming across a large flat purpose-built site.

Questions about hire in Dorney

Are buggies used at rowing regattas
Routinely, because a rowing course is two kilometres long and everything happens at both ends of it. Umpires, officials, coaches, medical crews and equipment all move along the bank continuously through a regatta day, and nothing else covers that distance as easily.
Can a buggy carry boats or heavy equipment
A utility buggy with a load bed carries tools, riggers, spares and general kit well. Racing shells are long, fragile and carried by crews rather than driven, so the buggy handles everything around the boat rather than the boat itself.
How far is Dorney from your depot
It is one of the shorter runs we make, east from the Bracknell depot towards Windsor. That keeps both delivery cost and lead time down, and short-notice bookings are usually workable.
Do you cover Eton, Taplow and Burnham as well
Yes. They adjoin Dorney along the Thames and sit within the same delivery run, priced on road distance to the venue.
