Golf buggy hire around Cricklade
Cricklade is a small town on the upper Thames in north Wiltshire, the first town the river reaches. North Meadow, immediately west, is a national nature reserve of ancient hay meadow holding around 80 per cent of Britain's wild snakeshead fritillary population, flowering in April. North and east lie the Cotswold Water Park, some 150 lakes made by gravel extraction across the Thames headwaters.
The water park is where the practical work sits. Lakes here carry sailing, watersports, angling, holiday accommodation and nature reserves, and each site puts a car park at one end and the water at the other across flat ground. Wardens, safety crews and event staff cover long perimeters. The gravel tracks between and around the lakes are firm and largely level.
North Meadow itself is another matter entirely: a nationally important hay meadow where the flowering and the hay crop are the whole point, and vehicles are not part of the management most of the year. We would keep well clear unless Natural England and the graziers had specifically agreed otherwise. Cricklade is a run west from the depot along the M4.
Delivery to Cricklade
We deliver to Cricklade from our Bracknell depot, about 60 miles by road. Delivery is priced on that distance and shown as its own line on your quote, separate from the hire, so you can see exactly what each part costs.
We bring the buggies on a trailer, set them up at the venue, show your team how they work, and collect them at the end of the hire. Nobody needs to tow anything or collect anything themselves.
Which buggies suit Cricklade venues
4 seater
A 4 seater golf buggy carries a driver and three passengers, usually in two rows. It is a popular choice for weddings, small group transport and general venue use.
6 seater
A 6 seater golf buggy carries a driver and five passengers. It is the usual choice once you are moving groups rather than individuals, and it is the smallest size that works properly as a shuttle.
8 seater
An 8 seater golf buggy, sometimes called a people mover, carries a driver and seven passengers. It is the largest option we hire and is built for moving guests in numbers on a set route, rather than for general runabout use.
What buggies get used for around Cricklade
- Lakeside watersports and angling sites with long perimeters and distant parking.
- Warden and safety-crew mobility around large areas of open water.
- Holiday and leisure sites spread across flat ground between lakes.
- Event days on gravel tracks that stay firm through most of the year.
Questions about hire in Cricklade
- Is gravel pit ground good for a buggy
- The made tracks around worked-out pits usually are: firm, level and free-draining, which puts them ahead of most grass sites through winter. The lake margins themselves are soft and stay off the route.
- Can a buggy be used on a nature reserve meadow
- On a hay meadow of this importance, almost certainly not. The flowering and the hay crop are the reason the reserve exists, and vehicles have no ordinary place on it. Anything at all there would need the reserve's specific agreement.
- How far is Cricklade from your depot
- A run west from our Bracknell depot along the M4 corridor, and the quote shows the measured road distance as its own line.
- Do you cover Ashton Keynes, Swindon and Lechlade as well
- Yes. They sit around the upper Thames and the water park within a short drive and are covered in one delivery run.
