Golf buggy hire around Buckfastleigh
Buckfastleigh sits where the Dart comes off Dartmoor, a town built on wool and now known for what surrounds it. Buckfast Abbey, a mile north, was rebuilt between 1907 and 1938 by a handful of the monks themselves and stands in grounds with a lavender and sensory garden, a church and visitor buildings. The South Devon Railway runs steam trains from the town's station along the river to Totnes.
Two very different sites with the same shape. The abbey is a campus: church, grounds, gardens, shop, restaurant and conference facilities spread across a site with parking at the edge and a great many visitors, a good proportion of them older and there for a long slow visit. The railway is the usual long thin operation of yard, shed, platform and car park, largely volunteer-run.
The abbey's made paths and roadways are level and firm, close to ideal going. The railway yard is hardstanding and ballast with running lines off limits. Dartmoor itself, rising immediately west, is not buggy country in any respect. Buckfastleigh is a long run west from our depot along the M4 and M5.
Delivery to Buckfastleigh
We deliver to Buckfastleigh from our Bracknell depot, about 190 miles by road. Delivery is priced on that distance and shown as its own line on your quote, separate from the hire, so you can see exactly what each part costs.
We bring the buggies on a trailer, set them up at the venue, show your team how they work, and collect them at the end of the hire. Nobody needs to tow anything or collect anything themselves.
Which buggies suit Buckfastleigh venues
4 seater
A 4 seater golf buggy carries a driver and three passengers, usually in two rows. It is a popular choice for weddings, small group transport and general venue use.
6 seater
A 6 seater golf buggy carries a driver and five passengers. It is the usual choice once you are moving groups rather than individuals, and it is the smallest size that works properly as a shuttle.
8 seater
An 8 seater golf buggy, sometimes called a people mover, carries a driver and seven passengers. It is the largest option we hire and is built for moving guests in numbers on a set route, rather than for general runabout use.
What buggies get used for around Buckfastleigh
- Abbey and cathedral campuses with grounds, church and facilities apart.
- Preserved railway yards moving volunteers, tools and supplies.
- Visitor sites with an older audience and a long slow visit.
- Accessibility support across level grounds between separate buildings.
Questions about hire in Buckfastleigh
- Are buggies used at abbeys and cathedrals
- Where the grounds are large enough, yes. A church with gardens, visitor buildings and a conference operation is a campus, and the visitors who come for it are often exactly those who cannot walk between its parts comfortably.
- Can a buggy be used on Dartmoor
- Not on the open moor, no. It is rough, wet, rocky ground with common rights and conservation designations over it, and none of that suits a golf buggy. Enclosed sites at the moor edge are a different matter.
- How far is Buckfastleigh from your depot
- A long run west from our Bracknell depot along the M4 and M5. At that distance a multi-day or seasonal hire prices considerably better than a single day.
- Do you cover Ashburton, Totnes and South Brent as well
- Yes. They sit around the moor edge within a short drive and are covered in the same delivery run.
