The railway is the usual long thin operation of yard, shed, platform and car park, largely volunteer-run.

The abbey's made paths and roadways are level and firm, close to ideal going. The railway yard is hardstanding and ballast with running lines off limits. Dartmoor itself, rising immediately west, is not buggy country in any respect. Buckfastleigh is a long run west from our depot along the M4 and M5.
