Golf buggy hire around Braunton

Braunton is a large village at the head of the Taw and Torridge estuary in north Devon. Beside it lies Braunton Great Field, one of the few surviving medieval strip field systems in the country, and beyond that Braunton Burrows, the largest dune system in England, a UNESCO biosphere reserve used for military training as well as recreation, with Saunton Sands stretching along its seaward edge.

The burrows are a very large, very flat site with a small number of access tracks, and the work there is conservation and management rather than events: monitoring, grazing management, scrub control and visitor infrastructure, all a long way from any road. The village and the Great Field carry more ordinary work, and the estuary trail runs level and made for miles.

The made tracks through the burrows carry a buggy where the dunes themselves absolutely do not, and that distinction matters more here than almost anywhere given the scale of the sand. The Tarka Trail on the old railway is level and surfaced, close to ideal going. Access on a biosphere reserve is decided by its managers. Braunton is a long run west.

Delivery to Braunton

We deliver to Braunton from our Bracknell depot, about 190 miles by road. Delivery is priced on that distance and shown as its own line on your quote, separate from the hire, so you can see exactly what each part costs.

We bring the buggies on a trailer, set them up at the venue, show your team how they work, and collect them at the end of the hire. Nobody needs to tow anything or collect anything themselves.

Which buggies suit Braunton venues

  • 4 seater

A 4 seater golf buggy carries a driver and three passengers, usually in two rows. It is a popular choice for weddings, small group transport and general venue use.

  • 6 seater

A 6 seater golf buggy carries a driver and five passengers. It is the usual choice once you are moving groups rather than individuals, and it is the smallest size that works properly as a shuttle.

  • 8 seater

An 8 seater golf buggy, sometimes called a people mover, carries a driver and seven passengers. It is the largest option we hire and is built for moving guests in numbers on a set route, rather than for general runabout use.

What buggies get used for around Braunton

  • Very large reserve sites with few access tracks and long distances.
  • Conservation monitoring and scrub management away from any road.
  • Level surfaced trails on old railway alignments running for miles.
  • Estuary and village events on flat ground with distant parking.

Questions about hire in Braunton

Can a buggy be used on a dune reserve
On the made access tracks and where the managers permit it, yes. On the dunes themselves, no: soft sand defeats the vehicle and the habitat is protected. The distinction between track and dune is the whole conversation here.
Is a converted railway trail good ground
Among the best there is. Level by construction, surfaced and continuous for miles, with access points spaced widely apart, which is exactly the situation where walking or driving a van is impractical.
How far is Braunton from your depot
A long run west from our Bracknell depot to north Devon, and the measured road distance is carried as its own line on the quote.
Do you cover Barnstaple, Croyde and Saunton as well
Yes. They are within a short drive of Braunton and fall in the same delivery run.
