Golf buggy driver hire
Hire a trained, nominated driver for your golf buggy. A briefed person keeps the buggy running to your timeline and takes the insurance question off your hands.
A trained driver is a nominated, briefed person who drives the buggy for you, rather than leaving guests or staff to take the wheel. Many venues prefer it, and at any event with drinks flowing it is the sensible choice.
The question of who drives comes up on almost every hire, and it is worth settling early. A buggy is simple to operate, but it is still a vehicle carrying people, often around other people, and the moment there is drink, a crowd, or vulnerable passengers involved, casual self-drive stops being the right answer.
A trained driver removes that whole question. The buggy runs to your timeline rather than ending up parked somewhere by the last guest who used it, the operation stays controlled, and you are not relying on whoever happens to be free and sober to take the wheel.
What a trained driver covers
- Keeping to the plan
- A driver who knows the route and the run of show keeps the buggy where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. That matters most at weddings and events, where a vehicle sitting idle at the wrong end of the site is a small failure that ripples through the timeline.
- The insurance and safety question
- Letting guests or staff drive raises questions about who is covered and what happens if there is an incident. A trained, nominated driver removes that category of risk, which is why many venues ask for one rather than allowing self-drive at all.
- Vulnerable and older passengers
- Where the passengers are older, frail or unwell, the manner of driving matters as much as the vehicle. A driver who understands that, and moves gently and patiently, is what makes the buggy a genuine help rather than a jolt.
- Events with drink
- An evening event with a reception is not the moment for guests to take the wheel. A driver keeps the buggy running through the drinks and the dancing without anyone having to make a judgement call about who should be driving.
Common questions
- Do I need a trained driver, or can guests drive the buggy
- It depends on the setting. On private land no special licence is needed to drive a low-speed buggy, but many venues prefer a nominated driver, and for events with drink, crowds or vulnerable passengers we would recommend one. Tell us the event and we will advise honestly.
- How many drivers do I need
- Usually one per buggy that is running continuously, though a buggy used only occasionally may not need a dedicated driver at all. Tell us how the buggies will be used across the day and we will work out the right number with you.
- Are your drivers insured
- Yes. A trained driver we supply is covered to operate the buggy, and we can provide a public liability certificate for your file. If your own staff will drive instead, check that your event or venue insurance extends to buggy use.
- How much does a trained driver cost
- A driver is a priced extra on your quote, shown as its own line, rather than hidden in the hire. Tell us the event details and you will have an itemised written quote within one working hour.
- Will the driver know my venue and running order
- Yes. We brief the driver on the route and the run of show before the day, and plan it with you, so the buggy is where it needs to be when it needs to be there rather than being directed on the spot.
- Can we have a driver for only part of the day
- Yes. A driver can cover the parts that need one, such as an evening reception, while the buggy is used differently at quieter times. Tell us how the day runs and we will suggest where a driver earns its place.
